NSAs of India, UK to meet on Nov 3 to discuss Nirav Modi, Vijay Mallya extradition: FS

Glasgow/New Delhi, Nov 1 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson during their bilateral meeting on Monday agreed that their National Security Advisors will meet in London on November 3 to discuss the specific issues related to the extradition of Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya to India, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said.
Addressing a media briefing in Glasgow, he said that the issue of extradition cases “have been raised on a number of occasions” between the two sides. “And the two Prime Ministers agreed that specific issues will be discussed between the two NSAs, who will meet in London on November 3. They will go into the details and all the issues that are important to the consular, and security and other aspects of our relationship,” he added.
To a question on Khalistani elements being active in the UK, he said though the two PMs had a short meeting the issue of counter terrorism was discussed. He said that PM Johnson felt that some of these extremist groups “need to be reined in”.
“They had an exchange on the increasing radicalism, the extremism seen in fringe groups that seem to be speaking on issues they have no legitimate right to do so, and is causing a level of disequilibrium and concern in both the countries, and PM Johnson felt that some of these groups need to be reined in, and that steps have to be taken to address these incidents,” he said.
