Patna, Nov 2 (UNI) JD(U) candidate Rajeev Kumar Singh won Tarapur seat defeating Arun
Shah of RJD by a margin of 3,821 votes in by-election.
As per information received here, JD(U) candidate Mr Singh had emerged victorious from
Tarapur seat defeating Mr Shah of RJD by a margin of 3821 votes.
Mr Singh had secured 78,966 votes while Mr Shah got 75,145 votes. Congress candidate
Rajesh Kumar Mishra could get only 3570 votes. Kumar Chandan of LJP (Ram Vilas) got
5,350 votes.
JD(U) retained the seat as party had won this seat in last Bihar assembly elections held in
2020.
Mr Mewalal Chaudhary had won Tarapur seat on JD(U) ticket in last Bihar assembly elections.
The seat had fallen vacant after death of Mr Chaudhary who died of Covid-19 infection during
second phase of Corona pandemic.
In last assembly elections RJD had contested Tarapur seat under seat sharing arrangement
between the two parties but in by- election Congress also fielded its candidate as alliance of
Congress and RJD collapsed following refusal of RJD to accept the claim of Congress on Kusheshwarsthan seat where by-election was also held following death of sitting JD(U) MLA
