Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.32%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.

Shares of MPhasis(up 2.01 per cent), Tata Consultancy(up 0.22 per cent) and L&T Technology(up 0.16 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Tech Mahindra(down 2.07 per cent), HCL Technologies(down 1.56 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(down 0.72 per cent), Coforge(down 0.67 per cent) and Mindtree(down 0.47 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.32 per cent down at 35177.35.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 40.7 points at 17888.95, while the BSE Sensex stood down 109.4 points at 60029.06.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 22 ended in the green, while 28 closed in the red.

Shares of Tata Power, Vodafone Idea, Bank of Baroda, YES Bank and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Bharti Airtel(PP), Kotyark Industries Ltd., RPP Infra Proj(PP), Mangalam Organics and Allcargo Logistics hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Bayer Cropsc., Servotech Power Syst, Pasupati Acrylon, Mahindra EPC and Aarti Drugs hit their fresh 52-week lows.
