Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Nov 2 (UNI) Congress candidate Jitesh Antapurkar retained the Deglur-Biloli assembly constituency in Nanded district of Marathwada region of Maharashtra by defeating his nearest rival Subhas Sabne of BJP, in a closely contested by-election, the result of which was announced on Tuesday.
At the end of 30 rounds of counting, Antapurkar garnered 1,08,840 votes while his BJP rival Sabne managed to get 66,907 votes and Uttam Ingole of VBA 11,348 votes, returning officer Sachin Giri said.
Whereas, other nine candidates did not make any impact in this election, he said.
The by-election was necessitated following the death of sitting Congress MLA Raosaheb Antapurkar due to Covid-19 on April 9 this year.
Jitesh is the son of late Raosaheb Antapurkar.
