Nexttel's planned mobile money service in Cameroon suffers setback over withdrawal of licence

Tuesday 2 November 2021 | 16:58 CET | News
Mobile operator Nexttel faces a setback in its bid to launch its planned Possa (Wallet) service, reports Business in Cameroon. The operator's CEO, Benoit Yaoussou said earlier this year that the introduction of the mobile money service was expected by December. However, the licence awarded by BEAC (Bank of Central African States) in 2018 has expired, because the operator and its partner UBA (United Bank for Africa) have failed to deliver Nexttel Possa within the required timeframe.
