The new trailer for Morbius will be with us tomorrow, November 2. Ahead of that, a short featurette for the movie, which is the latest Sony-produced Spider-Man spin-off, has been released.

The featurette doesn't contain any new footage, but it is a good reminder of exactly who the main character of this much-delayed film is. It features star Jared Leto, who explains that Dr. Michael Morbius, a superpowered biologist with a rare blood disease, is "brilliant and strong" with "unique powers" that are out of his control. Leto also hints at where the character could go beyond this movie, stating "there's a web of opportunity." Web. Spider-Man. Get it? Watch the video below:

Morbius also stars Matt Smith (Doctor Who) as Loxias Crown, Adria Arjona (Good Omens) as Morbius's fiancée Martine, and Jared Harris (The Terror) as his mentor. There are also roles for Tyrese Gibson (the Fast & Furious series) and comedian Al Madrigal as FBI agents on Morbius's trail. The movie is directed by Daniel Espinosa, who previously made the 2017's sci-fi horror movie Life.

Morbius hits theaters on January 28. The film has been much delayed--it was originally due to hit theaters in July 2020 but was pushed back multiple times because of the pandemic. You can watch the first Morbius trailer here.

Sony is also developing several other movies based around characters from Spider-Man comic books, including films focusing on Silk, Madame Web, and Jackpot. The most recent release was last month's Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which has become one of the year's biggest box office successes.
