Kulesara and Ecotech 3 witnessed heavy waterlogging this monsoon.
GREATER NOIDA: The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has devised two ways to drain out accumulated rainwater at two areas that have earned notoriety for flooding - Kulesara and Ecotech 3. While the authorities plan to construct a pipeline that will drain out water from DSC Road in Kulesara into the Hindon, they will set up four sump wells at Ecotech 3. During the rains this year, both these areas got flooded easily and proved to be a nightmare for commuters. The issue of waterlogging has become a cause for concern for the authorities, especially in the wake of rising dengue cases. GNIDA has identified Kulesara as one of the dengue hotspots in the city. Officials said both the projects, estimated to cost Rs 12 crore in total, were likely to be ready by the next monsoon. "There have been repeated complaints regarding waterlogging on DSC Road and at Ecotech 3. This problem has been going on for the past several years. After a visit to the two sites, I had directed the project department to devise a permanent plan to solve the problem," said Narendra Bhooshan, the GNIDA CEO. Accordingly, general manager AK Arora of the project department devised the two plans. "For DSC Road, we have planned a pipeline between Haldauni and Kulesara. With this, the rainwater will be drained into the Hindo," he said. "In Ecotech 3, two sump wells will be activated automatically whenever there is waterlogging. If the flooding is intense, two more will start by themselves," Arora added. According to him, these would provide a permanent solution to the problem of waterlogging at the two spots. While Bhooshan has approved both the projects, the technical department will examine the estimates further. A nod from it will pave the way for the tender process and subsequent construction.
