Amritsar, Nov 01 (UNI) A massive Tree Plantation Drive and Afforestation campaign is taking place under the aegis of Vajra Corps across Punjab since the beginning of 2021.
As part of this drive, over 1,12,000 trees have been planted by formations and units of Vajra Corps in cantonments and Military stations as well as border areas in Jalandhar, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Firozepur, Ludhiana and Beas. Concerted efforts by troops has resulted in successful implementation of various initiatives such as agriculture schemes, creation of bio-diversity environment parks with tree plantation being integral to every commemoration event and special emphasis on planting native trees. Lush green and clean cantonments with tree lined public areas are a testament to these efforts.
Vajra Corps will continue to give further impetus to the tradition of environment conservation, growth and hope for future generations.

The troops in border areas have made nature their partner and have contributed to its preservation and development. They have been leading by example and encouraging participation of local populations towards tree plantation and conservation. Vajra Corps believes that improving the quality of environment is an apt way of contributing towards the national drive of Zero Carbon footprint.
