Dry weather in Gangetic West Bengal

Pune, Nov 1 (UNI) Dry weather prevailed in Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha Chhattisgarh, Gujarat Region, Saurashtra, Kuch, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada, said the Indian Meteorological Department here today.
Day temperatures were above normal (1.6 degree Celsius to 3.0°C) at many sectors over coastal Karnataka; at a few belts over Assam, Meghalaya, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Telangana; at isolated locales over West Bengal, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Rayalaseema.
They were appreciably below normal (minus 3.1°C to -5.0°C) at a few sites over west Madhya Pradesh; at isolated nooks over east Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
They were below par (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at many terrains over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, east Uttar Pradesh and Bihar; at a few stretches over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and at isolated pockets over Rajasthan while near normal over the rest of the country.
The maximum temperature of 38.2°C was reported at Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu.
Night temperatures were above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many segments over Rayalaseema, coastal & Interior south Karnataka; at a few spots over west Rajasthan, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Kerala and Mahe; at isolated portions over Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra, Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
They were appreciably below par (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) at many corners over Vidarbha and Gujarat; at a few areas over east Madhya Pradesh and east Rajasthan, and at isolated parts over west Madhya Pradesh.
They were below norm (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at a few locations over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar; at isolated sections over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal while near normal over the rest of the country.
The lowest minimum temperature of 8.5°C was reported at Mandla (east Madhya Pradesh).
Thunderstorm had occurred at isolated quarters over Konkan, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe during past 24 hours.
Rain or thundershowers had pummelled most zones in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, and at many divisions in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and coastal Karnataka during the period.
They had battered a few slices in Arunachal Pradesh, Konkan, Goa, Interior south Karnataka and Lakshadweep during the period.
Isolated swathes in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Haryana, Punjab, Telangana, Interior north Karnataka and Andaman & Nicobar Islands were also hit by rain during the period.
