Tikait threatens to lay siege on Delhi if Centre doesn't take call on farm laws by Nov 26

Tikait threatens to lay siege on Delhi if Centre doesn't take call on farm laws by Nov 26

New Delhi, Nov 1 (UNI) Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Monday warned the central government and said farmers will reach Delhi border in their tractors to lay siege if the government does not take any decision on the three farms laws by November 26.

Tikait tweeted: "The central government has time till November 26, after that from November 27, farmers will reach the border at the protest sites around Delhi by tractors from villages to strengthen the agitation.” November 26 marks one year of agitation by the farmers at Delhi's borders.

Tikait's comments came days after the Delhi Police started removing the barricades at Tikri on the Delhi-Haryana and Ghazipur border that with Uttar Pradesh.

Police began the removal of barricades after the Supreme Court on October 21 observed, “the farmers have a right to agitate but they cannot block roads. Other people also have rights on the roads.”

The top court asked the farmer unions to respond within three weeks on the issue and posted the matter for next hearing on December 7.

Farmers from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh have been protesting at Tikri, Singhu and Ghazipur borders against the three contentious farm laws since November last year.
