BYD e6 Electric MPV Launched In India — Priced At Rs 29.15 Lakh

The new BYD e6 will be available at the Chinese EV specialist's showrooms in Delhi NCR, Bangalore Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Vijayawada, Kochi, and Ahmedabad. The e6 is currently only on sale for the B2B segment ie: fleet operators and other corporate buyers.

The BYD e6 draws power from a front mounted electric motor that produces 94bhp and 180Nm of peak torque. The BYD e6 has a top speed of 130km/h.

The motor of the BYD e6 draws power from a 71.6kWh 'Blade' lithium ferro phosphate (LiFePO4) battery pack which offers a combined range of up to 415 kilometres as per WLTP standards. The BYD e6's 'city only' range is even higher at 520 kilometres. The cobalt-free LiFePO4 battery pack 'Blade 'battery pack is extremely safe and won't burn or explode even if punctured.

The battery pack of the BYD e6 supports both AC and DC charging standards. When plugged into a DC fast charger, the BYD e6 can charge its battery pack from 30 to 80 per cent in just 35 minutes with a full charge from zero per cent taking around an hour and a half. For Rs 45,000 more, BYD will offer the e6 along with a 7kW AC charger.

The BYD e6 measures 4,695mm long, 1,810mm wide and 1,670mm tall. The wheelbase of the e6 MPV is 2,800mm long. The BYD e6 offers 570 litres of boot space. The electric MPV has a kerb weight of 1,930 kilogrammes.

The Blade BYD e6 features a rather safe MPV design with a few flourishes. The projector headlamps with their LED Daytime running lights are connected together by a thick chrome bar that meets up with the BYD logo in the centre.

The sloped roofline is quite cool and the blacked-out pillars add to the illusion of the floating roof design. The rear end of the BYD e6 electric MPV sports a small spoiler element along with sleek LED taillights connected like the headlamps up ahead by a thick bar of chrome.

Inside, the e6 comes loaded with tech including a 10.-inch floating touchscreen infotainment display, leather seat upholstery, 6-way adjustable driver and front passenger seats, and an air filtration system. Safety features include multiple airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC) and traction control system (TCS).

BYD is offering the e6 with a vehicle warranty of 3 years/1.25 lakh kilometres (whichever is earlier). The warranty for the traction motor is 8 years/1.5 lakh kilometres while the battery cell warranty is 8 years/5 lakh kilometres.
