Rashtriya Ekta Diwas at Tamenglong
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is celebrated on 31 October every year to mark the birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
To commemorate the day 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sector/ IGAR (East) organised an oath taking ceremony followed by a unity run at Tamenglong and T Waichong. The event started from Jadonang Park in Tamenglong town.
Rich floral tributes were paid to the Iron man of India. The event started with releasing of pigeons symbolic to peace and prosperity through unity.
The participants spreading the message of unity, peace and prosperity through community participation traversed through main market of the town. The 05 km run finished with patriotic songs by battalion jazz band.
Similar run was participated by 40 students at T Waichong sub divisional HQ. A painting competition on the theme unity in diversity was organised by battalion in Dikhuiram. It was participated by approx 50 students.
