I’m a literature student and one of the reasons I chose the field was because I love stories. Especially those that have a strong ending. I’m a realist too, so I do know that not all stories have a happy ending. But still, I like stories that have an ending and if it’s a love story then I’m the kind to vouch for a happy ending. Because I strongly believe that those who get married to someone they don’t love, more often than not, end up ruining three lives—theirs, their partner’s, and their lover’s. So, isn’t it better to just let someone marry the person they love rather than forcing them to get married to someone else? I guess that is why there are people like this man who got his wife married to her lover, five months after his own wedding! I know it sounds like the plot of the movie Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam where the only difference is that in this situation the wife did end up going with the lover.
The man named Pankaj Sharma of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, got his wife Komal married to her lover Pintu, five months after they got married. In fact, he even arranged a lawyer to conduct the marriage on Friday evening and it was attended by relatives from both sides.

Pankaj Sharma who is an accountant in a private firm in Gurugram married Komal in May 2021 but things were not how they should have been between a married couple. Speaking to the reporters, he said, “She neither consummated the marriage nor even talked to anyone. After being coaxed, she confided that she wanted to marry her lover Pintu.”
After he came to know about Komal and her lover Pintu, Pankaj informed his in-laws about the same. The in-laws then tried convincing Komal to give her married life a chance but she remained stubborn on her point and refused to budge.

As per reports, the matter reached the Anti-Domestic Violence Cell and Ash Jyoti Centre. It was there that a meeting was arranged between the married couple, the wife’s lover, and their relatives. When Pankaj realized that Komal was determined to spend her life with her lover, he agreed to their marriage and even arranged a lawyer to solemnize it.
In all honesty, I’m so happy to see that there are people like Pankaj Sharma who are accepting of such situations and instead of making a fuss about things, take a well-thought and mature decision. Being married to someone and then getting them married to their lover is definitely not easy, but it is better than ruining everyone’s life in the process, isn’t it?
