Workshop / painting competition concludes

Imphal, October 30 2021: The Minister of TA & Hills, GAD, Transport, Vungzagin Valte graced the valedictory function of the seven day workshop cum painting competition on the theme "Tribal Freedom Fighters of Manipur" at Tribal Research Institute today.
The workshop was sponsored by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India and organized by Tribal Research Institute, Imphal with the objective of preserving the intangible cultural heritage of the various tribal freedom fighters of the State and also to promote tribal artists.
The workshop offered a platform for tribal artists of the State to come together to exchange ideas and enhanced their skill from the experts.
The Minister expressed belief that the inert patriotic feeling must have been inculcated among the masses through this workshop and it will create sustainable economic activities for income generation for the participants as professional painters and artists.
'We are free because of the sacrifices of our forefathers who have fought for our independence', he added.
Expressing his gratitude to TRI for promoting awareness about freedom fighters and unsung heroes during the freedom movement, the Minister opined that such workshops should be organized in the future at different hill districts.
The Minister also presented prizes and citations to the participants and winners of the painting competition wherein 24 painters from different districts participated in the competition.
