Low pressure persists, Orange alert issued, rains to continue in TN till Diwali

Chennai, Oct 31 (UNI) The low pressure area over Sri Lanka off Tamil Nadu
coast with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 3.1 km above
mean sea level persists promising heavy rains for the next four days, till
Diwali, according to the Director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre.
After issuing red alert for four districts, the met office on Sunday issued orange
alert for Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Cuddalore,
Kanyakumari and Cauvery delta districts predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall
till Diwali due to the cyclonic circulation.
The met office said the low pressure area is likely to persist over the same
region during the next 2­3 days and move westwards thereafter.
Under its influence, thunderstorm with heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur
at isolated places over Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi,
Cuddalore, Cauvery delta districts and Karaikal.
Thunderstorm with heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over
Kanyakumari, Villupuram, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu districts
and Puducherry. Thunderstorm with moderate rain is also likely to occur
at most places over rest of Tamil Nadu.
The Met office said on November three and four, thunderstorm with heavy
to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tirunelveli,
Thoothukudi and Kanyakumari districts.

rest Coastal Tamilnadu. Thunderstorm with moderate rain is also likely
to occur at most places over rest of Tamil Nadu.
Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over
Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Cuddalore,
delta districts and Karaikal. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated
places over Kanyakumari, Villupuram, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur,
Chengalpattu districts and Puducherry.
On Wednesday and Thursday, heavy to very heavy rain is likely to
occur at isolated places over Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Kanyakumari
districts. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over rest
Coastal Tamil Nadu.
Thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at isolated places over
Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area.
The forecast for Chennai city is the sky condition is likely to be generally
cloudy. Thunderstorm with moderate rain is likely to occur in some areas.
The maximum and minimum temperature will be around 30 deg C and
25 deg C respectively.
