MoS Bhanu Pratap scans projects in Ccpur, IE

Imphal, October 30 2021: Union minister of state for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) Bhanu Pratap Singh on Saturday inspected Churachandpur Wood Carpentry located at Old Cinema Hall, Churachandpur.
The carpentry unit is a government sponsored project under MSME.
Speaking on the sidelines of the inspection, the minister observed that in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, enhancing the GDP contribution from present 30 to SO per cent and employment generation in MSME from 11 crore to 15 crore will help India become the top economy of the world in future.
He is also expressed hope that the ministry will increase spending for betterment of the society at large.
Bhanu Pratap stated that consistent efforts are being made towards uplift of MSMEs under "self-reliant India" through various schemes for infrastructure development, credit and financial assistance, technology up-gradation, skill development along with inclusion of large number of business units and exporters.
He also interacted with various craftsmen under Churachandpur Carpentry Association.
He was accompanied by MSME state director Th Baite, KVIC Manipur director Pramod D Ambedkar, DIC Churachandpur GM Khailet Haokip and officials of District Industries Centre, Churachandpur.
MoS Bhanu Pratap also visited Ningomthong Reed Cluster situated at Ningomthong Kitna Panung, Imphal East on Saturday.
KVIC state director ASS Dewan, Textiles, Commerce & Industry additional secretary Luckyson Kashung and MSME/DI director in-charge TH Baite accompanied the Minister during the visit.
Bhanu Pratap said that the main purpose of his visit is to get a first hand report of the works taken up under the different schemes of MSME.
He urged the cluster groups to take the benefits of the various programmes taken up by the ministry to strengthen small and medium enterprises in the state.
Applauding the cluster on its successful implementation of the programme, the minister advised them to increase number of workers of the cluster which started initially with 216 workers and at present has 360 workers making different traditional handicraft items.
The Minister, further added that the ministry will extend its support to those organisations interested in forming such cluster groups to promote medium and small enterprises.
The Reed Cluster was formed by Craft Development Promoter Organisation (CDPO) with funding from the Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI), a scheme launched by the ministry of MSME in 2005 to promote cluster development.
CDPO secretary cum chief promoter S Bocha Singh, who is also a Global Excellence and state awardee, started the cluster in 2016 and has been running successfully till now.
The organisation has carried out exhibitions showcasing handicraft products of the cluster and also other products from various organisations to promote traditional handicraft products of the state.
The cluster is one of the most successful clusters in the northeast states and has recently been awarded by the Vice President of India.
