Tottenham have been told to bench Harry Kane and sell the striker in January as he looks ‘trapped and sulking’.
Kane’s performances this season have come under great scrutiny following his failed transfer to Man City over the summer.
The striker made his intentions known that he wanted to join the Premier League champions, but a price tag of £150million proved too rich even for City.
After much speculation, he stayed at the club but his performances have been so poor there are now calls for him to be dropped.
The 28-year-old has just one Premier League goal in eight games this season and his display against Manchester United, a game Spurs lost 3-0, came under the spotlight.
While Nuno Espirito Santo defended his star striker after the defeat, there has been growing criticism of him.
Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor says Tottenham need to sell Kane in January and he deserves to be dropped.
“If I was Pep Guardiola, if I was Daniel Levy, if I was the Man City owners, I’d be negotiating now for £100million in January,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.
“If I’m Daniel Levy I’m phoning Pep and saying ‘I’m negotiating now, the £150million doesn’t matter and we will take £80million, £90million or £100million. We just want to get him out of here’.
“He’s not interested. He doesn’t want to be at the club, he’s not working for the team.
“Of course you drop him. When Harry Kane was injured last season and season before, Son was playing his best football.
“He looks like a player trapped and is sulking, not interested. When the Spurs fans can boo one of their best ever players, you know something is wrong.
“Nuno Espirito Santo has got to put him on the bench, he’s not interested.”
Agbonlahor was particularly critical of Kane’s performance against Man United on Saturday and said it showed the striker looked uninterested.
He added: “It starts with Harry Kane. How many times did they get crosses in today and Kane stood on his toes, standing there.
“The best strikers in the world would go an attack. It doesn’t matter if you’ve got three centre-backs in there, the best centre forwards in the world will make the right runs and attack.
“Harry Kane was out there playing like ‘I don’t want to be here, I’m not interested’ and that is a club who has given you everything. A club you are meant to love.
“The fans love Harry Kane, but his legacy isn’t going to be the same now the way he’s treating these fans.”
