Court in Mumbai issues NBW against former police chief Param Bir Singh

Mumbai, Oct 30 (UNI) A local court has issued a non-bailable warrant against former city police commissioner Param Bir Singh and two others for their alleged involvement in an extortion case after they failed to appear before investigating agency for questioning.
A Killa court recently issued NBW against Singh and two others based on the case of extortion initially registered at Goregaon police station for allegedly demanding Rs 100 crores per month from beer bar owners and having written a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray against former Home minister Anil Deshmukh.
This is the second NBW issued against Singh, as last week a court in neighbouring Thane issued NBW against the former police chief. The court has directed the law enforcement authority to arrest the said accused and produce him before it in connection of extortion case registered at Thane Nagar police station.
