DIBRUGARH: The Jatiya Vidyalaya School at Chabua in Dibrugarh district has been shut down for a week by the district administration after four teachers and 2 students were found Covid-positive.
Inspector of schools of Dibrugarh district, Deepika Choudhury, on Saturday said rapid antigen tests were carried out among all students and teachers of the school after a teacher of the school was found Covid-positive two days ago. During the tests, three more teachers and two students were found positive. She added that one student each from Government Girls' HS and MP School, Dibrugarh, and Rameshwar HS School, Dibrugarh, have tested postive for Covid-19. "Since there were multiple cases of Covid-19 at Jatiya Vidyalaya, Chabua, we decided to shut down the school for one week as per Covid-19 guidelines and protocols.
After one week, the school will be reopened after approval of the deputy commissioner. During testing, one case each of Covid-19 were detected at Government Girls' HS and MP School and Rameshwar HS School. Since there were only one case each in both schools, we have allowed them to function after fully sanitizing the school premises. Rapid antigen tests will be carried out in other schools too," Choudhury said.
