Release full fund or face stir: MSPP

Imphal, October 28 2021: Informing that the state government has released only Rs 110 crore out of the Rs 333 crore fund provided for MGNREGS by the Central government, Manipur State Panchayat Parishad (MSPP) has cautioned of resuming its deferred poster campaign from November 2 if the pending fund is not released by November 1.Announcing this in a press meet held at Panchayat Bhavan, Porompat on Thursday, MSPP president Md Abdul Latif said that the Central government has been releasing fund for PRIs in time but the state government has been delaying in doing the needful to release these funds.
The Centre on August 25 released Rs 33308.74 crore as central share for the MGNREGS first instalment for 2021-22 .
The fund was meant for liabilities of MGNREGS wages for last year as well as wages, and material and administrative components for 2021-22.As per existing guidelines, the state government was supposed to release the fund within three days of receiving from the Centre by producing the state share.
While pointing out that failure to release the fund in time will result in withholding further release of central fund, he said that as the state government has failed to release the fund in time, job card holders in the state are deprived of their 100 days' works.
Funds that are yet to be released by the state government include liabilities for 2020-21, first instalment of 2021-22, tied fund for 15th Finance Commission 2020-21 second instalment, and tied & untied fund for 2021-22 first instalment, he disclosed.
