The Rashtriya Janata Dal is leaving no stones unturned to win the bypolls to two assembly seats of Tarapur and Kusheshwar Asthan in Bihar, the state where it lost the assembly polls last year by a whisker. Both the seats are among the most high profile contests to be held on October 30, when bypolls are being held for 3 Lok Sabha and 30 assembly seats. Apart from Bihar, the other high-stakes battles are in Madhya Pradesh, where the BJP stormed back to power last year with the help of Congress rebels led by Jyotiraditya Scindia. The Lok Sabha seat of Khandwa and three assembly seats are up for grabs in the state. Bypolls will also be held for the Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Mandi Lok Sabha seats. The bypolls to Assembly seats include 5 in Assam, 4 in West Bengal, three each in MP, Himachal Pradesh and Meghalaya, 2 each in Bihar, Karnataka and Rajasthan. One seat each in AP, Haryana, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Nagaland and Telangana are also up for grabs.
