Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton Sues Biden Admin Over Vaccine Mandate for Contractors

Texas Attorney Ken Paxton is suing the Biden administration over its federal contractor vaccine mandate in an effort to stop it from taking effect.

"The Biden Administration has repeatedly expressed its disdain for Americans who choose not to get a vaccine, and it has committed repeated and abusive federal overreach to force upon Americans something they do not want," Attorney General Paxton said. "The federal government does not have the ability to strip individuals of their choice to get a vaccine or not. If the President thinks his patience is wearing thin, he is clearly underestimating the lack of patience from Texans whose rights he is infringing."

Paxton's Friday lawsuit comes two days after he and 20 other attorneys general wrote to Biden to challenge his administration's vaccine requirement. They said that countless Texans and other Americans are being forced to choose between receiving the COVID-19 vaccine or losing their jobs.

The Texas attorney general's suit argues that the federal government does not have the authority to issue a vaccine mandate and "even worse" they are relying on federal contractors to enforce the law by demanding their employees receive the jab.

"The federal government's overreach must come to an end," the 34-page lawsuit states.

Paxton also criticized Biden in the suit for previously stating that his administration would not require citizens to receive the vaccine only to change course, and for a comment Biden made about using his executive powers in reference to governors, specifically Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who "won't help us beat the pandemic."
