Cataract screening, surgery camp begins

Imphal, October 28 2021: A three-day free cataract screening and surgery camp organised by 44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector IGAR (East) in collaboration with National Programme for Control of Blindness & Visual Impairment (NPCB&VI) and District Health Society Tamenglong commended from Thursday at Tamenglong District Hospital.
According to PIB (Defence) Imphal, the camp is being organised to commemorate World Sight Day under the theme Love your Eyes" .
It would not only help in identifying the patient for further early treatment but have surgery conducted at the camp site, the PIB said in a release, while informing that team of experienced doctors is in Tamenglong to extend their medical expertise to the locals.
The battalion shall provide transportation assistance and meals for patients coming from far flung villages of the district to attend the camp.
A Covid-19 awareness stall-with various posters, banners and cut outs has also been put on display.
All necessary Covid-19 protocols will be observed while conducting the free screening and surgery camp, the PIB added.
