Lucknow, Oct 29 (UNI) Senior Uttar Pradesh Minister and Government spokesman Sidharth Nath Singh has taken a strong exception to the statement of Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik about the proposed film City in Noida dubbing it as 'misleading' and 'misplaced'.
In a statement here on Friday, the UP Minister said the Maharashtra minister was trying to create a wedge between two states without understanding the thought process behind the project.
Earlier in the day, NCP leader Nawab Malik said that the cruise drugs case is nothing but BJP's attempt to move Bollywood out of Maharashtra.
He said that Uttar Pradesh possessed good locales, manpower and required infrastructure to have a film City. "The growth of regional cinema in UP in the recent past will also add to the logistics around this project, " he said.
The UP government spokesman said the proposed Film City in UP will be developed near to proposed Jewar airport, arguably the biggest airport in Entire South Asia ,coupled with the development of basic infrastructures like roads, power and a sound law and order. "In fact, the majors of the Film Industry have extended their support to Yogi government which already has a well-defined film policy, " he pointed out.
Sidharth Nath Singh said that the Mumbai film industry employed a large number of workforce from UP and the proposed Film industry will provide local manpower to the advantage of those who desired to have state-of-the-art film facilities in UP.
He also chided Nawab Malik for misguiding the public and Maharashtra and accused him of creating a rift between the people of two states. "The Film industry in UP never meant to destabilise or shift Bollywood from Mumbai, instead it aimed at providing an alternative to filmmakers amid competitive atmosphere, " he asserted.
