Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.59% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded negative around 10:56AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market.

Larsen & Toubro Infotech(up 1.97 per cent) were among the top gainers.

MPhasis(down 1.9 per cent), Mindtree(down 1.14 per cent), Wipro(down 0.91 per cent), HCL Technologies(down 0.83 per cent) and Infosys(down 0.73 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was down 0.59 per cent at 35292.7 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 184.65 points at 18026.3, while the BSE Sensex was down 587.05 points at 60556.28.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 were trading in the green, while 40 were in the red.

Shares of PNB, Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Power and Bank of Baroda were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of SMS Lifesciences Ind, Gokul Agro Resources, Consol Const., IndusInd Bank and Goldstone Tech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Bombay Metrics Supply Chain Ltd., Ramco Systems, D K Enterprises Global Ltd., SREI Infra Fin and Anmol India hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
