Logan Paul’s moral victory over Floyd Mayweather has given him such belief that he’s not even afraid to step into the ring with Mike Tyson – despite being advised not to.
The social media influencer-turned professional boxer lasted afull eight rounds with Mayweather in an exhibition in June and gave a good account of himself.
Not being knocked out or embarrassed can be considered a victory against a man who has a 50-0 record, but what next for Paul? Like his brother, Jake, the money train is in these intriguing cross-promotional fights, or, fighting legends.
So how about Mike Tyson? That’s the rumour circulating at the moment as ‘Iron Mike’ targets a return to the ring in early 2022.
It would be a second outing for Tyson on the exhibition circuit having made a return to the ring in an exhibition last November against Roy Jones Jr.
But Paul is not fazed by facing someone who had many men beaten before they even touched gloves.
After his Mayweather bout, he said on his podcast: “Someone mentioned Mike Tyson, like how funny is it? One great at a time. Or is it like you can only fight one?
“My lawyer mentioned it and he was like, ‘No, Tyson will rip your head off, you don’t stand a chance’.
“I’m like, ‘bro, I literally just went through all of this, you can’t tell me I can’t beat Mike Tyson. Bro, he’s old, old.'”
Could a novice in Paul, 26, really knock out 55-year-old Tyson, once known as the Baddest Man on the Planet?
For what it’s worth, the former undisputed heavyweight champion was very impressed with Paul’s performance against Mayweather.
Tyson told Paul on FaceTime: “You kicked his ass. You’re bad, I was wrong!
“I’m proud of you, you kicked ass, I’m proud of you. Everybody’s talking about you, you’re the man.
“You went eight rounds with the greatest of all time, I was telling people they don’t want to try that s***. You got him with those punches.”
