Teen injured after bullets fly just half a block away from NYC elementary school

Bullets flew near an Upper West Side elementary school Thursday afternoon, leaving a teenager with a gunshot wound to his leg, cops said.

The shooting happened around 1:45 p.m. at West 71st Street and Amsterdam Avenue, cops said. The West Side Day School, a private school serving K-8 students, is located less than a half a block away.

The teenager, whose age wasn’t immediately available, was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital in stable condition, police said.
