    Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.88%

    Synopsis

    The Nifty Bank index closed 0.88 per cent down at 40874.35.

    India 10-year bond yield fell 0.41 per cent to 5.89 after trading in 5.87-5.91 range
    NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

    Shares of State Bank of India(up 1.29 per cent), Punjab National Bank(up 0.98 per cent), ICICI Bank(up 0.68 per cent) and AU Small Finance Bank(up 0.54 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

    On the other hand, Axis Bank(down 6.46 per cent), Bandhan Bank(down 3.03 per cent), Federal Bank(down 1.62 per cent), RBLBANK(down 1.23 per cent) and IndusInd Bank(down 1.07 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

    The Nifty Bank index closed 0.88 per cent down at 40874.35.

    Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 57.45 points at 18210.95, while the BSE Sensex stood down 206.93 points at 61143.33.

    Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 ended in the green, while 27 closed in the red.

    Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, PNB, Tata Power and Bank of Baroda were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

    Shares of Mangalam Global Ent, KDDL Ltd, TTK Prestige, Transport Corp and Goldiam Intnl hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while D K Enterprises Global Ltd., Thejo Engg, SREI Infra Fin, Dev Information Tech and Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
