JK govt announces relief to the next of kin of non locals killed during recent violence

Srinagar, Oct 27 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir government sanctioned ex-gratia relief to the next of kin of victims who were non residents and died during the recent violence in the valley.

This month Kashmir witnessed a series of targeted killings. Eleven civilians were killed in October which included five migrant workers, three minority members and three local residents. The targeted killings have evoked widespread condemnation from people and politicians.

The decision to extend relief to non locals was taken in the Administrative Council (AC) which met here under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

An official spokesman said, the Administrative Council (AC) extended relief under SRO 43 to the next of kin of victims who were non-residents of Jammu and Kashmir having died in the recent violence in the Kashmir valley.

“This would enable the Government to provide cash compensation to this category of militancy affected people,” the spokesman added.
