New Delhi, October 26
In a first-of-its-kind move, the Centre has invoked Fundamental Rule (FR) 56 (j) in the CBI to compulsorily retire five of the agency’s cadre officers and a senior public prosecutor for being allegedly corrupt and non-performing, sources said.
Without disclosing the names of the officials, sources said they included one ASP, four DSPs and one senior PP.
The clause 56(j) of the Fundamental Rules gives absolute right to the government to retire any government servant, fulfilling the criteria of age and service, in public interest by giving notice of not less than three months in writing or three months’ pay and allowances in lieu of such a notice. — TNS
