Kolkata: Teenager dies, 2 hurt in bike accident

KOLKATA: A teenager riding a bike without helmet was killed and two others riding pillion were seriously injured in an accident near Park Street-Loudon Street crossing around 3.30am on Tuesday. Police said the youngsters were out on a joyride when they lost control and crashed.
The rider who died, SM Mujammil Ghaus (19), was a resident of Syed Ahmed Road in Entally. The other two on the bike were Md Hassan (19), a resident of Chatubabu Lane, and Md Adil (21), a resident of Beniapukur. They are admitted at CNMC Hospital with multiple injuries.
This is the third such accident in three days. All of them have happened during the night restrictions when vehicles other than those on essential service and emergency requirement are banned. Following the accident, the police top brass has called for use of CCTV cameras on more locations and then challan offenders.
Lalbazar has formed special raid teams to patrol post 11pm and nab errant bikers. “All our nakas and city watch teams have been asked to look out for such riders,” said an officer.
