
Pune Live Updates: Amitab Gupta, Pune Police Commissioner stated that Kiran Gosavi was residing at a lodge in Katraj area, Pune and was arrested at 3.00am. Gosavi’s picture with Aryan Khan went viral and immediately after that he went into hiding. He was connected to a cheating case lodged in 2018. Gupta said that Kiran Gosavi was roaming around in various places in last few days including Lucknow, Hyderabad, Fatehpur Sikri, Jalgaon, Panvel and Lonavala.
Pune district on Wednesday recorded 206 new Covid-19 infections. On the other hand, the number of people succumbed to the disease was one; with 393 cases of recovery. Currently, there are 3,140 active Covid-19 cases in Pune district. So far, the tally for samples tested stands at 15,315.
Dr Pradeep Vyas, Additional Chief Secretary (Health), Maharashtra, told The Indian Express that at least 60 lakh beneficiaries are due for their second dose of Covishield while 15 lakh are due for the second dose of Covaxin. Maharashtra has more than 3 crore fully vaccinated persons, which is highest for any state in the country, he said.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Thursday said the new areas of warfare have shifted from territorial frontiers to civil societies, adding that factors like people's health, their sense of wellbeing and security, and their perception of government impact the will of a nation.

After the successful completion of the first phase of the Urban95 programme in Pune, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Netherlands-based Bernard van Leer Foundation (BvLF) have launched the second phase of the programme.
This phase is focused on scaling the initiative and learnings across the city to make urban neighbourhoods accessible for infants, toddlers, young children, and their caregivers helping the city cater to the needs of this demographic and provide infrastructure and services to support them better.
The BvLF will support PMC through technical assistance via teams of urban planning and design experts and early childhood development. Egis India Consulting Engineers, Egis International SA, and the Aga Khan Foundation have come on board as the technical partners during the second phase. Read more
A 24-year-old hotel management graduate who was allegedly duped by Kiran Gosavi, an NCB’s independent witness who appeared in a selfie with Aryan Khan, claimed that an in-depth police probe into his activities would uncover a pan-India job scam where scores of youngsters were cheated.
Chinmay Deshmukh filed a complaint with Pune’s Faraskhana Police Station in May 2018, accusing Gosavi of cheating him of Rs 3.09 lakh by promising him a hotel management job in Malaysia. Deshmukh said there was no job waiting for him after landing in Malaysia and that he was provided with a tourist visa by Gosavi. Based on Deshmukh’s complaint, police had booked Gosavi in this case under sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code and sections of the Information Technology Act. Read more
In the past fortnight, Kiran Gosavi travelled to numerous cities across India, including Hyderabad, Lucknow, Fatehpur Sikri, Panvel, Jalgaon and Lonavala, and used an alias in a bid to evade detection and arrest. “He used the alias of Sachin Patil while booking hotels,” Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta said on Thursday .

Pune city's air quality has slipped to 'moderate' category on Thursday with the Air Quality Index (AQI) value climbing over 100 after nearly six months. The SAFAR has forecast relatively poor air quality in areas around Lohegaon, Shivajinagar, Bhosari, Bhumkar chowk, Nigdi and Hadapsar on Thursday.
The minimum temperatures continue to remain marginally above normal. On Thursday, Shivajinagar recorded 20.6 degrees and at Lohegaon, it was 23.8 degrees Celsius.

The Pune city police have ‘nabbed’ Kiran Gosavi, the self-styled detective cited as an “independent witness” by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the drugs-on-cruise case involving Aryan Khan, in connection with a cheating case lodged in 2018.
Gosavi had gone incommunicado soon after his selfie with Aryan Khan went viral on social media and questions were raised about his conduct during the drugs bust. He was reportedly travelling in Uttar Pradesh and had also expressed his intentions to surrender before UP Police. Read more

Nitin Shinde, regional officer, MPCB, Pune said that there has been an improvement in the manufacturing standards of crackers and, unlike previous years, a reduction in crackers that violate permissible noise limits.
“We have tested 10 single firecrackers, including seven shots, whistling rocket, bomb green, rocket bomb, flower pot and others from Sivakasi-based manufacturers. Read more

A rare and critical facial bone surgery was performed successfully on a 48-year-old woman at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital (YCM), run by Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), recently.
"The patient was diagnosed with Zygomatic hemangioma, which is one of the rarest conditions. There are only around 20 reported cases globally. This condition presents a unique and risky clinical challenge for the surgeon," said Dr Yashwant Ingale, faciomaxillary surgeon at YCM Hospital.
Doctors at the hospital said the woman from Ahmednagar worked as a stone mine labourer. Around 18 years ago, while at work, she met with an accident during a mine blast. A stone hit her face, injuring her. Following this, a hard growth was formed on the right side of her facial bone (Zygomatic bone). In the last three-four years, she started experiencing pain in the region. This also led to facial deformity, said Dr Ingale.

To resolve traffic chaos, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), along with Pune Smart City Development Corporation (PSCDCL), has decided to implement an adaptive traffic management system (ATMS) across the city.
“The Pune Smart city has undertaken the project to streamline the traffic across the city. It has taken up the project of ATMS and would be funding capital expenditure for it. However, due to fund constraints, the PSCDCL has urged the PMC to take the responsibility of operation and maintenance of the project for five years,” said Hemant Rasane, chairperson of the standing committee.
The PMC, he said, has decided to incur the operation and maintenance cost of Rs 58 crore for the next five years. The civic body will shell out Rs 11.58 crore every year for the maintenance and operation of the project.

Police have arrested three persons and seized banned gutka and tobacco products worth Rs 42.64 lakh from their possession here in Maharashtra, an official said on Wednesday.
Following a tip-off, a police team intercepted a tempo on Tuesday at Nadi Naka in Bhiwandi town and seized the banned goods, an official from Nizampura police station said.
Three of the accused were arrested and hunt was on for two others, he said.
The accused had procured the goods from a person at Vadodara in Gujarat and were to deliver the stock to a person in neighbouring Mumbai, the official said.
A case was registered against the accused under relevant sections, he added. (PTI)
The Covid-19 situation in Pune following Diwali will be the key deciding factor when it comes to holding semester examinations in the traditional offline mode, say colleges in the city.
While many colleges in Pune opened a fortnight ago and have been conducting offline classes and practicals for fully vaccinated students, the fate of examinations for the second semester is yet to be finalised and the colleges are readying themselves for a hybrid model for conducting exams and evaluating students.
Maharashtra’s Covid-19 cases have been coming down and earlier this week, it touched a record low of around 850 daily cases. If the caseload remains the same for the next four to six weeks — which remain crucial post the Diwali festivities and vacations — then the examination departments of all state-run universities are expected to consider holding offline exams. A man who was out for a morning walk was injured after a leopard attacked him in a residential area in Pune city on Tuesday following which the animal was rescued late in the evening, a forest official said.
The leopard was found hiding in a narrow lane in Gosavi Vasti area in suburban Hadapsar and was rescued after an operation that lasted over two hours, said Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) Rahul Patil.
Earlier in the morning it attacked Sambhaji Atole in Sade Satara Nali locality, close to the premises of the leading vaccine manufacturer Serum Institute of India.
Atole was rushed to the Sassoon General Hospital. He was out of danger, officials said. (PTI)
Camera traps will be installed in and around the area where an early morning attack by a leopard was reported in Hadapsar on Tuesday. The camera traps will help study the path of the animal in the region, said Principal Chief Conservator of Forest of Maharashtra, Sunil Limaye.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Limaye said, “I have instructed Pune DCF Rahul Patil to take all the required measures to rescue the leopard, including installing trap cages in the area and using the tranquiliser gun if the situation calls for it. I have also directed that camera traps be installed in the area to understand the path of movement of the leopard so that subsequent steps can be contemplated.” Read more
Two passengers travelling on Mumbai-Bhubaneswar Konark Express were injured after robbers allegedly tried to snatch gold ornaments from the windows of the train compartment on Tuesday night.
According to officials from the Government Railway Police (GRP), the incident took place at Nanveej which is located around 75 kilometers from Pune city. An officer said that three robbers targeted a sleeper coach when the train came to a halt due to the alleged tampered signal. Read more
Solving a case in which a woman from Pune was duped of Rs 12 lakh through a matrimonial website, the Pune City police have arrested two Nigerian nationals from Greater Noida, who are suspected to have cheated people in many such cases, officials said on Tuesday.
The officials from the Cyber crime police station of the Pune police were probing a case in which a woman was cheated to the tune of Rs 12 lakh through a profile she was in contact with on a matrimonial website. The woman was in contact with the profile of a person who posed to have a job abroad. Between June and July 2020, she was made to transfer Rs 12 lakh on various pretexts. Read more
