Jamshedpur: After 30 new cases of the Covid-19 infection were reported in the past 11 days, the East Singhbhum district administration has ramped up its vaccination drive and re-launched the mobile vaccination vans to reach out to a maximum number of beneficiaries.
Officials said the vans will be made available on request from localities where beneficiaries of over 10 can avail the service after contacting the district vaccination cell on phone or email.
Dhalbhum SDM Sandeep Kumar Meena, who is also the senior in charge of the district vaccination cell, said people who have not taken the first dose so far can take advantage of the mobile van vaccination scheme. On Tuesday, the administration on Tuesday issued two mobile phone numbers — 6207628627/7858638654 — and an email ID — vaccinationcell@gmail.com — where the beneficiaries can approach with a request for the vaccination vans.
The SDM also said the vaccination cell officials will contact those beneficiaries, who have missed the second dose. The beneficiaries will either receive a phone call from the vaccination cell or SMS on their phones from the NIC (National Informatics Center) requesting them to get vaccinated.
The additional chief medical officer, Sahir Pall, said mobile the van vaccination programme has been going on for quite some time but due to lack of requests, the number of vans has been reduced.
“Our effort is to achieve 100% vaccination at the earliest possible. Hence, the thrust is on the mobile van vaccination drive so that nobody is left out,” Pall said.
Noting that with over 80% of the first dose has been administered, Pall, said East Singhbhum is leading among the districts and hopes to complete the first and second dose vaccination by November end.
As of Monday, the district has administered 20,50,339 doses which included 14,14,103 first doses and 6,36,236 second doses.
In the past 11 days, (October 15 to 25), the district reported 30 Covid cases, taking the total Covid count to 51,973 of which 50,892 have recovered, 1,058 have died. The district has 23 active cases as of Monday.
Former secretary of the Indian Medical Association, Jamshedpur Chapter, Mrityunjay Kumar, said, “With an average of three cases being reported every day and festival season yet to get over, there is a need for precaution and immunisation to fight the pandemic.”
