26 OCT, GANGTOK: In the 67th National Film Awards, where many of the renowned films have been Awarded. Sikkim was awarded the ‘Most Film Friendly State’ of the country. The state’s Information and Public Relations Minister Lok Nath Sharma, received the award at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on Monday from Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu. The Himalayan state was recognized as an emerging film shooting destination in India. Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, also known as P.S. Golay, took to his Facebook page recently to hail the recognition. He posted “It is a proud moment for Sikkim,” further adding “I hope this sets the foundation for films to be an integral aspect of Sikkim and provide a platform for our talented people.” In the recent past, several Bollywood film shootings such as ‘Qarib Qarib Single’, ‘Yaariyan’ and others have taken place in Sikkim, especially in the state’s picturesque northern district.
