India’s first match of T20 World Cup 2021 ended in a defeat against arch-rivals Pakistan, in which they suffered a 10-wicket loss. Pakistan’s ministers termed this victory as a symbol for Islam, while in India also firecrackers were fired at Pak’s victory in various areas across the country.
Former Pakistan pacer Waqar Younis also hailed the Pakistan cricket team for their historical victory against arch-rivals India and related this to religion. He said that it was very satisfying to see Rizwan offering his namaz in front of lots of Hindus.
During a talk show on a news channel on October 25, Younis said that it was very special for him when Md Rizwan offered the Namaz in front of Hindus during the India vs Pakistan match at the T20 World Cup 2021. Younis has also served as the head coach of the team in the past.
Waqar Younis appreciated the manner in which the Pak batsmen batted throughout the match to finish the match. He also complimented Pakistan captain Babar Azam by saying that what formers couldn’t do with their great teams, Babar has done it for Pakistan and gave a victory to celebrate for the ages. Pakistan had a history of choking against India in World Cup matches. Before this match, Pakistan had never won a match against India on World Cup stage, losing 12 times in a row.
Responding to Waqar Younis attempt to give this victory a communal colour, ace commentator Harsha Bhogle, slammed the former Pak bowler and asked to apologise before it’s too late. Harsha said that a bowler of Waqar’s stature to say something like this is one of the most disappointing things, he ever heard.
