Julia Garner goes through the rise and fall of convicted fraudster Anna Delvery in the first photos released from Netflix's upcoming series Inventing Anna.
Garner, 27, is seen at the height of her manipulations and thievery in glamorous images from early episodes of the true-crime series, before she's confined to wearing prison scrubs behind bars in the limited series' final episodes.
The Ozark star's new project is based on the The Cut's popular article How Anna Delvey Tricked New York's Party People by Jessica Pressler, who brings her expertise to the show as an executive producer.

Inventing Anna also stars Jennifer Esposito, Anna Deavere Smith, Workaholics' Anders Holm, and Orange Is The New Black star Laverne Cox.
The series, which arrives next year, is the first to be created by Grey's Anatomy showrunner Shonda Rhimes, who is also writing it.
David Frankel, best known for directing The Devil Wears Prada, will be directing two episodes, including the premiere.

Inventing Anna follows Chlumsky's journalist as she hopes to prove herself by exposing the lies of Anna Delvey, a German heiress who has become a fixture of New York social life.
But even as Delvey was becoming a sensation on Instagram and in high society, she was stealing money from wealthy pals and disguising her true origin as Anna Sorokin, a Russian immigrant from a working-class background who moved to Germany with her family as a teen.
Sorokin initially began using the invented surname Delvey after moving to Paris to work at a fashion magazine, and she kept the name when she moved to the United States and reinvented herself as a German heiress.
She adopted a life of luxury sustained by fraudulent loan requests, which allowed her to stay in luxury hotels until they eventually kicked her out for not having a credit card on file.
The con artist would also use her well-heeled friends for money by taking them on trips on her dime, before asking them to pay.

Deception: Sorokin, who was convicted in 2019, was accused of taking out fake loans and of asking friends to cover her expenses before failing to pay them back; seen in court in 2019
One of Sorokin's traveling companions, Rachel DeLoache Williams, revealed in Vanity Fair in 2018 how her fake friend convinced her to put a $62,000 bill on her credit card, plus other expenses.
She claimed to Williams that she would wire the money to her once they were back home, but it never materialized.
Sorokin was indicted in 2017 and convicted in 2019 of eight charges, including second-degree grand larceny, attempted grand larceny, and theft of services, though the jury reached a not guilty verdict on the larceny charge for failing to pay back Williams.
The convicted fraudster was released from prison in February of this year, only to be taken into custody by Immigrant and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for overstaying her visa.
She's expected to be deported back to Germany, though she was still in ICE custody as of late September.

Garner also received critical praise for playing the title role in the dark drama The Assistant, a fictionalized look at the toxic work environments created by abusive Hollywood producers like Harvey Weinstein.
