Assam eases Covid-19 restrictions as situation improves

GUWAHATI: With the improvement of the pandemic situation in Assam, the state govt eased the Covid-19 related restrictions on Tuesday, limiting the night curfew from 11pm to 5am.
From Tuesday, the curfew period will be from 11pm to 5am.
All shops, offices restaurants, showrooms and other business establishments are allowed to function till 10pm.
Educational institutions have already resumed, but hostels in residential schools, degree and technical colleges and universities will be open only for final-year students.
In the new SOP issued, the Assam state disaster management authority (ASDMA) stated that daily new cases in the state are hovering between 300 and 400, mostly from urban and peri-urban areas and most of the districts are reporting less than 10 cases per day for the last four to five weeks.
Moreover, more than 95% of eligible population in the state have been inoculated with the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
The second dose vaccination coverage in the state has gone up to 31%, it added.
