Varanasi: Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending all support for combating Covid-19 menace effectively by boosting the health infrastructure in the state, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday thanked him for “choosing Uttar Pradesh to launch the ambitious
PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission”.
Welcoming the PM in Kashi where he (PM) addressed a public meeting in Mehdiganj area on Monday, Yogi said, “We did not have a lab to test Covid-19 while 26 districts had no intensive care unit facility when the pandemic hit the state in 2019. Like other parts of the world, UP too felt the pressure of arranging oxygen during the second wave of Covid-19. But, the PM ensured all help from PM Care, resulting in the setting up of 60 labs. Now, UP is capable of conducting four lakh tests per day.”
“Now, each district in the state has an ICU facility and UP has become self-dependent in oxygen availability,” the CM said.
He added, “Over 500 oxygen plants have been established in the state following the second wave of Covid-19. The PM has set new records in the past seven years,” said Yogi while highlighting the achievement of vaccination of 100 crore people in the country. “The challenge of saving the livelihood of the people during the pandemic was also tackled successfully under the leadership of the PM.”
Mentioning the 28 projects of Rs 5,189 crores inaugurated by the PM for Varanasi, “Yogi said that the world is witnessing the fast-changing image of Kashi, which has received these projects as a Diwali gift from PM.”
Earlier, Union health and family welfare minister Mansukh Mandaviya welcomed the PM for gifting PMABHIM to the nation, mentioning that the mission will be one of the largest pan-India schemes for strengthening healthcare infrastructure across the country in addition to the National Health Mission.
