HYDERABAD: Utilising the party’s plenary and 20 years celebrations, the
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Monday converted the event into an unofficial public meeting to send a message to
Huzurabad voters on
Dalit Bandhu even as it hit out at the Centre on its promises. The party also reminded voters of various assembly resolutions it has sent to the Centre, including increasing quotas for STs and minorities, categorisation of SCs and demand for a ministry of BC welfare.
Chief minister
K Chandrasekhar Rao also made no bones about his displeasure with Election Commission of India (ECI) for restrictions on public meeting in Huzurabad. A week ago, during his visit to Yadadri temple, the CM said the ECI exceeded its limits by extending model code of conduct to neighbouring districts of Huzurabad. TRS had planned a public meeting at Penchikalpet in neighbouring Hanamkonda on October 27.
“The ECI exceeded its jurisdiction. Being a CM and party president, I am saying the EC did not act in a manner that suits its stature,”
KCR said.
CM: Schemes akin to Dalit Bandhu soon
He said some party leaders approached court to prevent him from holding a public meeting in
Nagarjuna Sagar and they were doing the same now.
“The present live telecast will help us in reaching to Huzurabad voters. I appeal to Dalits in the constituency that there is no need to have apprehensions about Dalit Bandhu scheme. After November 4, nobody can stop its implementation in Huzurabad. Not even ECI. I hope once
Gellu Srinivas Yadav wins the bypoll, he will personally distribute the financial assistance to you and it will be completed by December,” the TRS president said.
He said Dalit Bandhu would be implemented in 118 assembly constituencies (for 100 people in each constituency) from January 2022 and selected beneficiaries, officials and leaders could come and see how it was done in Huzurabad. He also announced that after implementing Dalit Bandhu, similar schemes would be extended to STs, poor in BCs and even upper castes such as Reddys, Velamas and Brahmins.
Attacking Congress and BJP, the CM claimed that in the past 60 years the two parties could not even think of a scheme such as Dalit Bandhu and spent their time in instigating people.
“Congress and BJP have high commands and bosses in Delhi. But TRS has no boss, only people are supreme for us,” KCR said.
