  • She charged the haul to her mum's Afterpay which is how she was caught out

A mum has revealed how her eight-year-old daughter managed to rack up a $1,150 Kmart bill on Afterpay after 'playing' on her phone.

The youngster, who bought camping supplies and Harry Potter Lego, appeared to be hinting at a family holiday in nature with the purchases.

Her mum, who in hindsight saw the humour in the situation, said Kmart were able to cancel the order which included a ten-man tent.

The young girl also bought a single-bed flocked air mattress, a pillow, blankets, pots and pans and cups and cutlery.

And for entertainment on the trip the child ordered a box set of Harry Potter books, some Harry Potter themed Lego and a microscope.

The mum also shared photos of her Afterpay notice, which showed four payments of $287.36 over two months.

Many commented on the amusing scenario and said they'd have bought similar things.

'I would die, but at least you know she has good taste,' one woman said.

Others debated whether or not an eight-year-old girl could navigate Kmart and Afterpay unassisted.

'I can't believe people think her eight-year-old isn't capable of this. My seven-year-old would be. It doesn't take a genius,' one mum argued.

Others agreed all of their payment information is permanently logged in.

'All kids have to know to do this is their parents four-digit pin, and most of them probably do,' another woman said.

Others criticised the mother for letting her daughter use her phone.

'My phone is mine my kids are only allowed to touch it in an emergency,' one mum said.

'Well I guess you learned a lesson and won't let your eight-year-old play with your phone,' said another.

Other mums revealed they had similar thing happen because 'it is so easy for kids to use PayPal and Afterpay'.

One mum said her son racked up $300 on her PayPal whilst using his gaming console.
