Anthony Joshua admits he spent his US trip sounding out potential new trainers as the former heavyweight champion says he welcomes Tyson Fury's offer to help him prepare for his Oleksandr Usyk rematch 

Joshua, 32, lost his WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO titles to the wily Ukrainian southpaw last month at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, with the Briton comprehensively outclassed over 12 rounds. 

AJ has activated his rematch clause and is expected to face Usyk again in March next year, with pundits and fans doubtful that the 32-year-old can refine his style in such a short space of time to avenge his defeat in North London.

Fury, 33, offered to help train Joshua for his rematch with Usyk ahead of his third fight with Deontay Wilder earlier this month, insisting that alongside trainer SugarHill Steward they can formulate a gameplan to defeat the Ukrainian.

And Joshua has welcomed Fury's offer, saying that he would be happy to spar the Gypsy King having long been linked with a mega-fight with his British rival.

'He's more than welcome to come through the door,' Joshua told iFL TV. 'He can even spar with me. 

'That'd be the easiest way to get him in the ring… He's more than welcome to step into the gym and give me some tips.'

Joshua opted to come in lighter for his fight with Usyk last month, with the Briton confident he could go toe-to-toe with the former cruiserweight champion in a tactical battle.

That strategy has been widely criticised in the wake of his defeat, while long-term coach Rob McCracken has also faced scrutiny for his inability to turn the tide in AJ's favour when the fight was slipping away from him.

Joshua has spent time in the United States and has been pictured with renowned trainers Eddy Reynoso, Robert Garcia, Virgil Hunter and Ronnie Shields to spark speculation he was planning to change trainers.

'With the new trainer situation it is funny because for eleven years I have been in Sheffield from the age of 19 to 32,' Joshua added.

Joshua also welcomed an offer from Tyson Fury ahead of his second fight against Usyk

'I just looked at myself and said I need to get out of this comfort zone, because I need a new coach to learn from as well. I will not be basing myself in the States, I am a UK resident so I am not going out to the States to find a new coach.

'Rob's in Lithuania so I need to find a new coach for certain points as I train ten or eleven months a year. So I need to step away and get some new teachings from trainers who have trained the likes of like thirteen or fourteen world champions.

'I don't need anyone that is going to make me, I am a f***ing winner but I need to get out and put myself back in the gym. In hindsight I wish I had done these things sooner, but now I can go out there and add things to my game.'

Joshua added that he narrowed down his list of potential trainers, before revealing that they would have to work collaboratively with McCracken. 

'In ten days I went to America and wanted to narrow down the people I want to learn from. He [McCracken] has to speak to the people I may wanna work with and see if he can work with them.”

AJ issued a rallying cry ahead of his second fight with Usyk, insisting he will enter his rematch ready for 'war'.

'I'm done with f***ing losing,' he added. 'I'm done with trying to learn the sweet science. He might get thrown on the floor in the next fight because this is war. It's just straight war, I'm annoyed. I'm boiling up even speaking about it - it's that passion to win.'
