LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other constitutional dignitaries cannot be confined to a particular class or religion as they represent every citizen of the country.
"It is the bounden duty of every citizen of this country to respect all the constitutional dignitaries, including the President and the Prime Minister, of this great nation," added the court.
A bench of Justice Mohd Faiz Alam Khan made the above observation in the course of granting bail to a 60-year-old man, who was booked for sharing on WhatsApp the morphed photographs of the PM.
Earlier, tendering an unconditional apology before the bench, the accused Mohd Aafaq Quraisi had stated: "I am ashamed of the illegal act because the photograph was posted from my mobile phone. He, however, stressed that he did not do this and in fact it was done by some miscreant, who wanted to frame him in a case for ulterior reasons."
Quraisi was arrested on September 19, 2021, in connection with a case lodged with Aminabad police station for posting morphed objectionable photographs of the Prime Minister in a WhatsApp group.
