Lucknow United! Twitterati reacts as Manchester United owners bid for new IPL team

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to announce the two new IPL (Indian Premier League) teams and their owners, with the bidders having already arrived at the Taj Hotel in Dubai.

The final 10 bidders have submitted their bids and BCCI, from any moment now, may reveal the new teams and their owners. Big industrialists such as Sanjeev Gupta (RPSG Group) and the Adani Group are the front runners for the new teams, apart from Manchester United’s owners – The Glazers Family.

One thing is for sure, that the two teams will represent Lucknow and Ahmedabad, stadiums in both cities have a capacity of hosting approximately 75,000 and 1,10,100 fans, respectively.

Fans on Twitter are on another level, some are already convinced that Manchester United’s owners will buy a team for Lucknow, and even they have named the team as ‘Lucknow United’. While some are saying that if Glazers want to buy a team, let them buy, but only UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath can name the team, else he will rename the team according to him.

Here are some of the best Twitter reactions on the bidding of new IPL teams.

Earlier, media reports suggested that the tenders gave the potential bidders options to choose from around 8 to 10 cities from across India.  Apart from Ahmedabad, Pune, and Kochi, the other cities in the running for the two slots were Lucknow, Kanpur, Guwahati, Indore, Raipur, and Trivandrum.
