Tesla stock hit an intraday high of $998.74, enough to push the electric vehicle maker's market cap above $1 trillion.

News that Hertz has ordered 100,000 electric vehicles from Tesla briefly pushed the car marker’s market capitalization above $1 trillion for the first time.

It’s a significant order given that Hertz (ticker: HTZZ) has roughly 400,000 vehicles in its rental fleet, according to recent filings. The rental car company said Monday it would add the vehicles to its fleet by the end of 2022.
