Galaxy S22 lineup to have Exynos 2200 and Snapdragon 898 variants

25 October 2021 0

Samsung's next-gen Galaxy S22 lineup is now tipped to feature both Exynos and Snapdragon variants. This is an approach that the South Korean tech giant has been following for quite some time. It is said to be continued for 2022 models by Max Weinbach, a well-known and usually reliable tipster.

Weinbach tweeted that Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra will launch with variants featuring Exynos 2200 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 processors. The exact availability of these variants will vary from region to region. It means some markets will get models with Exynos chipsets and the remaining ones with Snapdragon. We have seen Samsung opting for Qualcomm variants when it comes to launches in North America.

It is important to note that while both of these are flagship chipsets expected to deliver top-notch performance, Exynos 2200 is tipped to offer significantly improved graphical performance. Samsung has collaborated with AMD for the chipset and is touting it as the world's first smartphone chipset to come with Ray tracing support.

Ray tracing is a technology that has become quite common among modern PC and gaming console GPUs. It essentially helps with a realistic representation of light reflection in games. This is undoubtedly good news for mobile gamers but we can expect Exynos 2200 to be advanced in other graphical processing aspects.
