Malesh calls for drug-free election

Imphal, October 24 2021: While commenting on the questionable conduct of some candidates negatively influencing youth to abuse substance during the polls, BJP executive member and intending candidate from Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC Oinam Malesh has stated that time has come for making concerted efforts to guide the future pillars of the society to the right direction and preventing them going astray.
On Sunday, a Youth Committee of Oinam Malesh in connection with the upcoming election was formed, followed by conduct of a discussion programme on the topic of "Role of Youth in Free and Fair Election for a Bright Future" at the residence of the candidate in Kwakeithel Lamdong.
As part of the programme, Malesh also distributed medical textbook sets to medical students of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC.
Speaking at the event, Malesh pointed out the trend of candidates making the youth to abuse drugs out of greed for garnering more votes during the polls, which is unfortunate.
He stressed that it is the responsibility of all of us to look into such acts and prevent such acts that might led the future pillars of the society go astray.
Regarding the programme, Malesh said it was held with the aim of informing the youth about democracy, the election and the role of the young people in the same.
He then said that young people hold the power to the life and death of a nation, while emphasising the need for helping young people in ascertaining which individual is best suited to represent the people.
