The government on Monday stated that it has not yet given permission for conducting Sunburn, the Electronic Dance and Music (EDM) Festival in Goa.
Coming out with this information, Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar said, “We have not given permission to Sunburn
as yet.”
“I have not received the file yet,” he added, pointing out, “They had sought permission (for organising the festival) and I had sent the file to the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to take decision on
the same.”
Incidentally, the promoters of the Sunburn festival on October 24 had announced that the festival would be held at Vagator from December 28 to December 30, 2021. They have also started promoting the event through various media platforms.
When asked about the same, Ajgaonkar said, “I don’t know on what basis they are promoting; I have told the director to inquire into it.”
“If the COVID-19 situation in the state comes under control, the festival would definitely be held,” he informed, pointing out, “If we want rich tourists to come to Goa then these types of events will have to be held.”
The Tourism Minister said that even the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has supported re-starting of the tourism activities, further observing, “The show must go on.”
Sunburn festival has not been held in Goa since last two years.
