India’s oldest and largest music label – Saregama, is doing its bit in giving budding singers a legit platform to showcase their talent.  They have just announced the names of four young talented singers, selected from the online universe, who had put up cover versions of one of the latest songs from Saregama.

This is in line with record label’s ultimate intent to democratize talent and bridge the gap between a content creator and a producer.

It all started with the latest Hindi original song from Saregama – Arjun Kanungo’s heartbreak hit Dil Kisi Se, which released earlier in the month. The song quickly became a crowd favourite amongst budding singers in the digital universe to sing covers of the original. In just a few days of release, there were several acoustic versions of the song that flooded on various social media platforms.

Buoyed by this overwhelming response, and sensing an opportunity to discover potential talent, the team at Saregama went through the various cover versions and have shortlisted three singers from the several entries, who will be featuring in the upcoming projects from the label. The singers selected are – Melisaa Srivastava, Chhavi Pradhan Akanksha Dhyani, and Kushagra Thakur.

Rashna Pochkhanawala, Senior Vice President Music – Saregama, said, “The new pool of musical talent is thriving in the country somewhere, and we at Saregama want to enable them to come to the forefront, by offering them a platform to present their skills. Our recently released Arjun Kanungo single – Dil Kisi Se, proved perfect for budding singers to showcase their talent through the acoustic versions they put up.

“The quality of singing was so superlative that we couldn’t ignore it. We have always worked towards identifying and working with talented people from across the spectrum – be it through Carvaan’s Content Partnership Programme or identifying the next lot of musical talent.

“It really boils down to creating opportunities and I am excited to see what possibilities open up for these talented singers in the coming months through us,” Pochkhanawala said.
