PM Modi in UP LIVE Updates: 'Cycle' of corruption thrived in Uttar Pradesh during previous govts

Without taking the name of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, PM Modi said that the 'cycle' of corruption thrived in Uttar Pradesh during the erstwhile governments. Bicycle is the election symbol of the Samajwadi Party. 

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday presented Lord Buddha's idol to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at an event in Siddharthnagar district.

Attacking the previous governments in Uttar Pradesh, PM Modi asked has it ever happened before that nine colleges were inaugurated. "Its reason is political priorities. Previous governments were only filling their family lockers and earning for themselves. But our priority is to save poor’s money and provide them facilities.”

PM Modi said that with the opening of nine new medical colleges, about 2,500 new beds have been created, new employment opportunities have been created for more than 5,000 doctors and paramedics.

PM Modi said that today is a big day for east Uttar Pradesh and entire state. The day marks a double dose of healthcare infrastructure. More than 5,000 new doctors and para medics will now be available. "Dream of pursuing medical education will now be a reality for youth of eastern Uttar Pradesh,” he said.

Addressing a rally in Siddharthnagar, PM Modi said that Purvanchal's image was ruined by previous governments. He said that it was defamed because of 'dimagi' fever... "The same region will now infuse new hopes... people of UP can't forget how Yogi ji had highlighted about  UPs poor medical system in Parliament, despite not being a CM," he said.

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath said that, from 1947-2016, only 12 government medical colleges were there but now under PM Modi's leadership, 30 medical colleges will be opened. Out of 30, MBBS classes have started in 7 colleges, and today we are inaugurating 9 more; 14 more in future.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that the new medical colleges will benefit both present and future generations. Under PM Modi, medical education governance has improved... The government has opened 157 medical colleges in the country.

PM Modi inaugurates nine medical colleges in Uttar Padesh. The new medical colleges are based in the districts of Siddharthnagar, Etah, Hardoi, Pratapgarh, Fatehpur, Deoria, Ghazipur, Mirzapur and Jaunpur. 

The mega ‘Prime Minister Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana’ was announced in this year’s budget with an outlay of Rs 64,180 crore. This will be the big scheme that PM Modi is going to launch from Uttar Pradesh, after the Swachh Bharat and the PM Ujjwala Yojana.

Last week as well, PM Modi was in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar to inaugurate the international airport and other projects. Before that, he was in Aligarh. PM Modi will next be in Lucknow next month to inaugurate the state's longest Purvanchal Expressway.

The objective of PMASBY is to fill critical gaps in public health infrastructure, especially in critical care facilities and primary care in both urban and rural areas. It will provide support for 17,788 rural Health and Wellness Centres in 10 High Focus States. Further, 11,024 urban Health and Wellness Centres will be established in all the states.

Accprding to the PMO, PM Modi will launch the 'Prime Minister Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana (PMASBY)' today from Varanasi. PMASBY is one of the largest pan-India schemes for strengthening healthcare infrastructure across the country. It will be in addition to the National Health Mission.

Prime Minister will inaugurate various development projects worth more than Rs 5,200 crore for Varanasi. He will arrive here at 1:15 PM, as per the schedule announced by the PMO.

According to the Prime Minister's office, PM Modi will also launch Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana during Uttar Pradesh visit. From Siddharthnagar, he will go to Varanasi which happens to be his parliamentary seat. 

Under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme, preference is given to underserved, backward and aspirational districts. The Scheme aims to increase the availability of health professionals, correct the existing geographical imbalance in the distribution of medical colleges and effectively utilize the existing infrastructure of district hospitals. Under three phases of the Scheme, 157 new medical colleges have been approved across the nation, out of which 63 medical colleges are already functional.

Nine medical colleges to be inaugurated are situated in the districts of Siddharthnagar, Etah, Hardoi, Pratapgarh, Fatehpur, Deoria, Ghazipur, Mirzapur and Jaunpur. 8 Medical Colleges have been sanctioned under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme for "Establishment of new medical colleges attached with district/ referral hospitals" and 1 Medical College at Jaunpur has been made functional by the State Government through its own resources.
