Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is in the best form of his life, setting records for fun and proving he deserves a new contract.
Salah has two years remaining on his current deal but is in talks over new terms, with reports his representative could ask for as much as £500,000 per week at Anfield.
He stated last week that he wants to remain at Anfield for the remainder of his career.
The 29-year-old has been pivotal in bringing the glory days back to Anfield and his goals could be the big difference in this season’s title race.
He helped the Reds produced a sensational performance against rivals Manchester United in a 5-0 victory, notching a brilliant hat-trick.
He became the first player to score a treble at Old Trafford in the Premier League – a stunning achievement.
After the game, Trent Alexander-Arnold tagged his teammate in a picture and described Salah as ‘the best in the world.
And given his stunning form Liverpool may be well advised to cough up the money the Egyptian wants as they hunt for a second Premier League title.
He has already notched 15 goals in 12 appearances across all competitions and scored for the 10th consecutive game.
In the match itself he completed 44 of the 47 passes he attempted, had seven shots with four on target, while he also contributed defensively with four ball recoveries.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian has already netted 107 goals Premier League goals and is now the highest scoring African player in the competition’s history.
Salah spoke to Sky Sports: “I think it’s great to win 5-0 here. We knew before the game it would be tough if we didn’t play our football. We managed to do that from the beginning which made the game a bit easier.
“We knew they would come and would try to give everything to win the game so in our heads we had to be 100 percent, we needed to dominate the game and think we did it.
He was asked about his current goalscoring form and said: “As long as the team keep winning, I’m more than happy. I’m always trying to give assists. The first one I could go alone but I gave it to Naby, so I think I’m trying always to give my best for the team to win, which is the most important thing.”
Former Man United star Gary Neville and Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher hailed Salah’s rich vein of form and believe, right now, there is no stopping him.
Neville said: “He’s at his absolute peak. This is a player who at this moment in time can take any game by the scruff of its neck.”
Carragher added: “If he goes close to the same number of goals he scored in his first season at the club, Liverpool will go very close to winning the two big trophies [Premier League and Champions League] they’ll be desperate to get their hands on. He’s an absolute superstar.”
